James Nemmer III Obituary

James Richard Nemmer III (Trey) Nemmer went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Feb 4, 2026 at the age of 45 years old. He passed away in Colorado Springs, Colorado after battling cancer for 13 months.

He was born on October 2, 1980 in Waco Texas to his parents, Jim and Cretee Nemmer.  He had two siblings, Shannan Delayne Nemmer and John Cody Nemmer.  Our family moved from Texas to Colorado when Trey was five years old.  He was a student at Pioneer Elementary and Timberview Middle School.  He graduated from Liberty High School and studied at Colorado Tech before moving to Seattle Washington in his early 20s.

Trey had learned to play guitar when he was 12 years old.  He put away his guitar for a few years to pursue playing soccer and baseball during his freshman year of high school.  Later in his life his interest in guitars came back and was a passion.  It was during this time that he met his wife, Shana.  They moved to San Diego California where Trey began a position at Guitar Center.  During his life in San Diego, his wife gave birth to his only and beloved little daughter, Greta Jo.  There has never been a little girl who was loved more than Trey loved her.   She will forever be Daddy’s girl!

After Trey was diagnosed, we made the decision to move him to Colorado Springs where he would be surrounded with care from Shannan and the rest of our family.  During this time, Cody’s wife Grace gave birth to their son.  He is named James Richard Nemmer IV after Trey. He was Trey’s “little buddy”.

Trey was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, his aunts Susie and Kay as well as his pets, Joben and Charlie.  He leaves behind our precious Greta Jo, Baby James, Mom Cretee, Sister Shannan, Brother Cody, sister-in-law Grace, as well as family in Texas which include aunts, uncles and many beloved cousins.  Friends in California, Washington, Florida and other parts of the world. (Cortney, James, Eric and Tony) Vanessa and her children.  Colleagues at Guitar Center and Fly Rides of San Diego.

We want to express our deeply felt appreciation to everyone who supported Trey during this illness. We felt your love and prayers, and it sustained us.  We will never forget the kindness we were shown. A remembrance gathering will be scheduled at a later date.

We will miss you Trey.  We loved you with an everlasting love.  Meet us at the gate!
